About Gary
The Gary Potter Coaching Group, named after Gary Potter is a product of Gary’s experiences in the law enforcement profession, within the private sector as a business owner, and in his work in the public relations field. As a result of surviving life-threatening incidents between 1993 and 1996, with the most recent seeing him survive attempted murder, Gary became an ardent student in the field of individual, interpersonal and organizational effectiveness. In 1999 he discovered the work of Dr. Stephen R. Covey, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. He soon found, as millions of individuals and thousands of organizations worldwide have, that this foundational work made an enormous positive impact on his personal and professional happiness, peacefulness, and effectiveness.
In 2001 he began acquiring professional accreditations from FranklinCovey, the global leader in professional services and productivity tools co-founded by the author Dr. Stephen R. Covey. when he certified as a Coach/Facilitator in the content of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. As a result of his passion Gary now successfully coaches and works with numerous individuals and organizations internationally, including mid and upper level leadership personnel within the private, public, non-profit and corporate sector.
In addition to providing coaching-workshop services, Gary continues to provide many insightful, down to earth, and motivating public speaking presentations focused on his area of expertise. Many audiences have benefited from hearing overviews of his life-threatening experiences and how he had a choice; to remain a victim of circumstances over which he had no control, or become the survivor he did by being proactive and building upon this experience in a manner that has been described by others as “an example of what individuals and organizations can achieve when they focus on what they can control and take consistent balanced action utilizing skills and tools that have been historically proven to be highly effective.”
Gary resides in Kenora, (Lake of the Woods) Ontario, Canada with his wife Beverley, and they are the proud parents of two adult daughters as well as being the extremely proud grand-parents of one very special and wonderful grandson, Chase.
